Sister M. Giovanni Gourhan, a charismatic leader and visionary, and the School Sisters of Notre Dame started the Guadalupe Area Project in 1964 in response to the various and intense social needs within the west side of St. Paul.

The name of our agency recently was changed to Guadalupe Alternative Programs to reflect the more comprehensive scope of our work now.  However, the community-centeredness of this organization has not changed, nor has the support of individuals and corporations that befriended GAP during all those years of growth.

GAP maintains a strong relationship with its donors and is reminded daily of their generosity.  Their gifts allow this agency to reach out dramatically and creatively into the communities we serve and into the lives of individuals who need help.

As state and federal fundings of this country's educational and social needs continue to vacillate, GAP counts on the resources of the greater community and its donors.  Each fall, GAP sponsors a dinner of thanksgiving and fundraising to solidify those crucial relationships.

I encourage you to mail a gift to this organization and/or email me personally if you have questions or concerns and I will respond to you immediately.
