GAP has demonstrated consistently that its programming, based on relationship and trust, is successful over time. A strategic array of services that supports the needs of our students, a dedication to achieving and maintaining small class size and attention to cultural uniqueness are primary considerations as teachers, counselors and administrators nurture the educational and leadership potential of their students.
These are some of the programs designed to support our students as they move through GAP's educational process:
- Apoyo Familiar (The Family Program): offers a comprehensive array of services to students who are pregnant or parenting. An on-site child care center is licensed for 15 infants/toddlers; a counselor provides individual case management. Students/parents participate in the creation of developmental goals with their child and learn effective parenting skills.
- Student Support Services (Conexion): Counselors address barriers to school success. Services provided include individual counseling, mediation and conflict resolution, family support, court advocacy, case management, outreach and referral.
- Health Start Clinic: In collaboration with Health Start, a comprehensive array of adolescent health services are offered at an on-site, professionally staffed clinic.
- Job Readiness Training: In collaboration with the American Red Cross, students are provided a continuum of job readiness experiences including job shadowing, on-the-job training, job placement and post-secondary planning.
- Extended Day Programming: After school enrichment activities are offered to all students in the areas of academic tutoring, recreation, arts, culture, computers, AIDS peer education, and leadership.
